A whole new world for Moonpig

Moonpig, the online retailer for cards and gifts, has been given a complete visual overhaul by Moonpig’s creative director, James Turner, their in-house creative department and a team of freelancers.

The freelance team consisted of Ian Styles, Simon Smith and Stuart Hammersley, with Rick Banks working on the typeface development. Most of the work was done with them embedded directly within the creative department at Moonpig, which Ian Styles says “…was crucial to understanding the culture, customers, and vision for the business.”

Building on their new positioning their idea was a simple one; create a whole new world for Moonpig, one where we imagine that we live life on the moon, where the normal rules don’t apply. Boring is banished, the obvious avoided and where life, is more fun and lighthearted.
